BELLE VERNON, Pa. - The Westminster College women's golf team finished third out of four schools at the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Women's Golf Invitational. The invitational was held Monday and Tuesday at the Cedarcliff Golf Club. Westminster shot a nine-stroke improvement in day two from day one and finished with a 791 (400-391). The Titans shot a 739 at the 2012 PAC Fall Championships, combined with the Spring Championship score for a total of 1,530 for the overall championship.
The Titans were led by two top-10 finishers. Sophomore Morgan Pierce (Fredonia, PA/Reynolds) led the Titans with a sixth-place finish with a score of 187 (95-92). Junior Rachel Sherman (North East, PA/North East) tied for eighth place with a 197 (99-98). Junior Jenna Huston (Beaver Falls, PA/Blackhawk) finished in a tie for eleventh place with a 200 (99-101). Rounding out the Titan finishers were freshman Carly Boughner (Cooperstown, PA/Cooperstown), 215 (107-108), and sophomore Jordan McGree (Punxsutawney, PA/Punxsutawney), 217 (117-100), finishing 18th and 19th-place, respectively.
Grove City won the event with a 1,490. Washington & Jefferson finished in second with a 1,497, followed by Westminster and Thiel, who scored a 1,644.
