Men's Basketball: Westminster Ends 2012-13 Season at Waynesburg

WAYNESBURG, Pa. - The Westminster College men's basketball team ended its 2012-13 season after a 74-57 loss at Waynesburg on Monday in the 2013 Presidents' Athletic Conference play-in game. The Titans finished the season with an overall record of 7-18, while the Yellow Jackets improved to 10-16 overall and advance to play the no.1-seeded Saint Vincent on Tuesday.
 
In the first half, the Titans took their first lead after junior Anthony Thomas (New Castle, PA / Union) made a jumper to give Westminster an 11-9 lead with 15 minutes on the clock. Waynesburg went on a 13-5 run to take a 22-16 run with 7:46 remaining and held a 33-29 halftime lead.
 
The Titans had their largest lead of the game when senior Ron Martino (Youngstown, OH / Cardinal Mooney) converted on a traditional three-point play to give Westminster a 53-49 lead at the 8:17 mark. Waynesburg pulled away as it outscored Westminster 25-4 for the remainder of the game.
 
Waynesburg out-shot Westminster 39.1% (27-69) to 33.3% (21-63) and had a 46-41 rebound advantage.
 
Westminster senior Doug Smith (South Park, PA / South Park) scored a game-high 18 points. Martino followed with 15 points. Also scoring in double-digits for the Titans was Thomas with 11. Thomas also dished-out a game-high four assists. On the glass, senior Adam Carswell (Painesville, OH / Notre Dame Cathedral Latin) led with a team-high 12 rebounds, while Smith added six boards.
 
Five Yellow Jackets scored in double-figures, led by Jason Propst with 16 points. Propst also had a game-high 14 rebounds.
