Track & Field: Titans Tune-Up at Penn State and Akron

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - A few throwers of the Westminster College men's and women's track & field teams competed at the Jim Thorpe Open on Friday. The event was hosted by Penn State.

For the men, senior Ryan Bell (New Wilmington, PA / Wilmington) earned second-place in the javelin with a toss of 63.72m, besting participants from Penn State. Junior Chris Weeda (Wellsville, OH / Southern Local) competed in the discus (35.15m).

On the women's side, senior Emily Dolsak (McDonald, OH / McDonald) finished fifth in the discus with a toss of 42.92m. Classmate Bridget McCray (Centerville, PA / Titusville) competed in the javelin (37.41).

Also competing for the Titans was junior Mark Saylor (West Middlesex, PA / West Middlesex) at the Campbell Wright Invitational hosted by Akron. Saylor placed eighth in the pole vault with a toss of 4.80m.

Next up for Westminster is the Allegheny College Gator Invitational on Friday.
