GREENVILLE, Pa. - The Westminster College softball team will look to extend its current 10 game winning streak today after two cancellations due to inclement weather conditions Tuesday and Wednesday. The Lady Titans will travel to Thiel College to play a doubleheader starting at 3:30pm.

Westminster currently sits at second in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) at 14-10 overall and a 6-0 mark in conference play. The Tomcats are in the middle of the pack at sixth place with an 8-14 overall mark and they are 3-3 in PAC play.

The Lady Titans still rank second in overall earned run average in the conference at 2.08. The team batting average ranks tied for seventh place at .277, but they are just three batting points away from being tied for fifth place.

In the team's recent offensive surge, junior Layne Carpenter (Marietta, OH / Marietta) has now improved her average to .438 (21-48) which ranks sixth overall in the PAC. 

Westminster is tied for third in the conference in homeruns with eight now on the season, Carpenter has two of them. Junior shortstop Katie Hughes (Boardman, OH / Cardinal Mooney) who is batting .329 has three of the round-trippers (Hughes ranked second in the PAC with seven in 2011). Sophomore second baseman Kelsey Squelch (Pittsburgh, PA / Perry Traditional) hit her first career homerun last week.

Thiel College ranks fourth in team batting average and sixth in team earned run average. Freshman standout catcher Danielle Massengill currently ranks third in the conference in average at .464 (32-69).

She will be on the radar for Westminster's ace, junior Chelsea Brown (New Castle, PA / Mohawk), who will look to earn her 11th win on the mound in game one.

Thiel is on a three game losing streak after winning their first three games of conference play. Westminster will play next at home versus Chatham on Saturday at 1:00pm.
