Men's Tennis: Westminster Wins First Match of Season Against Waynesburg

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College men's tennis team beat Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) foe Waynesburg 6-3 on Saturday, for its first win of the season. The Titans improved to 1-7 overall and 1-1 in the PAC, while the Yellow Jackets fell to 0-3 on the season and 0-2 in the conference.

In second singles, senior Drew Trifelos (Newark, OH / Granville Christian Academy) won 6-1, 6-1. Senior Sean Black (Aurora, OH / Aurora) followed in third singles winning 6-1, 6-7, 7-3.

In fifth singles, junior Ryan Carr (Cheektowaga, NY / Cheektowaga Central) won 6-3, 6-2. Freshman Mike Matisi (Lowellville, OH / Lowellville) followed in sixth singles winning 6-2, 6-1.

The Titans also had two wins in doubles, sophomore Nathan Huber (Highland, MD / River Hill) and junior Brad Thomas (Warren, OH / Champion) won in first doubles 8-2.

The duo of juniors Ryan Carr and Marshall Finelli (Girard, OH / Ursuline) won in third doubles 8-4.

The Titans look to start a winning streak as they face Franciscan University at home tomorrow at 4 pm.
