Gross and Hainsey Recognized for Academics

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.  - Seniors midfielder Jamie Gross (McDonald, Pa. / McGuffey) and forward Coty Hainsey (New Paris, PA / Chestnut Ridge), members of the Westminster College men's soccer team, were named to the NSCAA Scholar All-East Region Honorable Mention team.

In order to be nominated for this honor, student-athletes must have at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average, start more than 50 percent of all games, be a significant contributor to their team, and earn at least junior academic standing.

Gross, an accounting major, has compiled a 3.86 grade point average. He played in all 18 games for the Titans. Gross was tied for second on the team with four goals, while leading with two assists and 15 shots.

Hainsey, a three-year starter, studied mathematics and earned a 3.67 GPA.  Hainsey tied for second on the team with four goals to go with one assist while starting in all 18 games.

Westminster posted a 4-14 record in 2011 and an eighth-place PAC record of 2-6.
