Volleyball: Rebecca Riemer Named Capital One First Team Academic All-District

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - Westminster sophomore volleyball player Rebecca Riemer (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon) was named to the 2011 Capital One Academic All-District Volleyball Team released Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Riemer earned first-team honors for NCAA Division III District 4. As a first-team selection, Riemer will be on the ballot for Academic All-America status which will be selected later this month.

Riemer, a biology major with a 3.96 grade-point average, was a first-year starting outside hitter for the Titans in 2011. She led the Titans with 3.01 kills per set (334 total) and 0.90 blocks per set (100 total) while also averaging 0.43 digs per set (48 total). Riemer ranked eighth in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) in kills and fifth in blocks.

Westminster posted a 20-12 record and a 11-7 mark for fifth place in the PAC.

To be nominated for the Academic All-District teams a student must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA and have competed at his or her current institution for one year.
