WOOSTER, Ohio - The Westminster College men's track and field team won the Wooster Invitational held Friday at the College of Wooster. The Titan women also placed third at the meet. A total of six men's and women's teams competed in the event. Westminster captured a combined nine events (8 field events), including the men with five and the women with four.

Westminster won both the men's and women's pole vault at events as sophomore Mark Saylor (West Middlesex, Pa./West Middlesex) and junior Merrissa Malcolm (Freeport, Pa./Freeport) each prevailed with vaults of 4.57 and 3.2 meters, respectively.

The Titans also swept the men's and women's discus and javelin. Junior Emily Dolsak (McDonald, Ohio/McDonald) won the women's discus at 35.67 and sophomore Chris Weeda (Wellsville, Ohio/Southern Local) took the men's at 34.29. Junior Bridget McCray (Centerville, Pa./Titusville) won the women's javelin at 35.84 and junior Ryan Bell (New Wilmington, Pa../Wilmington) captured the men's at 56.29.

Two men's jumpers won events. Sophomore John Proano (Titusville, Pa./Titusville) took the triple jump (11.79) and freshman Anthony Thomas (New Castle, Pa./Union) won the long jump (6.61).

The only track event that Westminster won during the meet came from junior Mallory Mack (Carnegie, Pa./Chartiers Valley) in the 100 dash (12.91).

Westminster is at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational Saturday, April 9.
