Men's Golf: Titans Take Third as Host of the Westminster Invitational

NEW CASTLE, Pa. - The Westminster College men's golf team placed third out of nine teams as hosts of the Westminster Fall Invitational held Monday at the New Castle Country Club.

The Titans shot a 333 and finished 19 strokes behind first-place Malone (314) and nine strokes in back of Grove City (324). Edinboro (341), Saint Vincent (342), Mercyhurst (349), Thiel (359), Bethany (363) and Point Park (370) rounded out the field.

Junior Ryan Spear (Hubbard, Ohio/Ursuline) led the Titans by tying for second place overall with a 76 (39-37). Freshman Andrew Edwards (Aliquippa, Pa./Hopewell) tied for 11th overall by firing an 81 (39-42), while sophomore Nate Silvis (St. Petersburg, Pa./Allegheny Clarion Valley) and junior Steven LaRue (Ligonier, Pa./Ligonier Valley) each carded 88s for 26th place.

Michael Strayer of Malone was the medalist as he shot a one-over-par 73 (37-36).
