NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - Westminster College Director of Athletics Jim Dafler was recently elected to serve as the chairperson for the NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Committee.
Dafler was voted to serve as the chair by his fellow committee members for the 2008-09 season, his final year of a four-year term on the committee. The voting took place at the committee's summer meetings in Indianapolis June 18-20.
The committee chair will be responsible for implementing championship policy for the NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Tournament and other administrative duties.
The committee is made up of eight members who represent each region in the nation. Dafler is the Great Lakes Region representative. The region includes Westminster and the eight other schools in the Presidents' Athletic Conference, as well as three other conferences, two conferences with partial regional affiliation, and several independent schools.
