Men’s Soccer: Girata Saves Career-High 10 in Titan Loss vs. Medaille

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - In a physical match that included a total of 36 fouls, the Westminster men's soccer team lost, 2-0, to the visiting Mavericks of Medaille. The Titans fell to 0-1-1 on the season, while the Mavericks improved to 2-0.

Titan senior goalie Michael Girata (Monaca, PA / Central Valley) recorded a career-high 10 saves in a complete-match effort.

Yggor Zignano scored first for Medaille in the 14th minute off a deflection inside the box. Junior Geegba added insurance for the Mavericks with a 30-yard shot to the far post in the 85th minute.

Medaille outshot Westminster, 24-12. Zignano had a game-high four shots-on-goal, while Titan junior Cody Postupac (Export, PA / Penn Trafford) had a team-high two.

Westminster will begin its eight-game road trip on Wednesday, Sept. 3, when it travels to Penn State-Behrend with a starting time of 7:30 p.m.
