Women's Golf: Titans Place Third at PAC Championships

Saturday, April 26, 2014

BELLE VERNON, Pa. - The Westminster College women's golf team placed third at the 2014 PAC Championships following a 776 (395-381) at the two-day Spring Championships, hosted by the Cedarbrook Golf Club.

Titan junior Morgan Pierce (Fredonia, PA / Reynolds) earned All-PAC First Team honors, the first of her career, after she tied for fourth with a 182 (92-90); marking the highest finish for the Titan women at the Championships since Pam Bonneau placed third in 2011.

Earning All-PAC Honorable Mention for the Titans were sophomore Carly Boughner (Cooperstown, PA / Rocky Grove) (193/100-93) who placed 12th overall and junior Keri Hamilton (Coudersport, PA / Coudersport) (196/100-96) who tied for 13th.

The PAC Championship format features four rounds of competition -- two in the fall and two in the spring. Each of the four rounds count towards the team championship and the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championships, while Conference Player of the Year and individual All-PAC honors are determined exclusively by scores at the 36-hole PAC Spring Championship.

The Titans totaled 1,523 (378-369-395-381). Grove City won with a 1,469 (748 at the Springs Championship), followed by Saint Vincent 1,500. Washington & Jefferson finished in fourth with a 1,524. Thiel finished fifth with a 1,650, with Waynesburg in sixth with a 1,834 and Thomas More in seventh with a 2,056.
