YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Sophomore Paul Carswell (Painesville, OH / Notre Dame Cathedral Latin) scored a game-high 21 points in the Westminster College men's basketball team's 108-57 loss at Division 1 Youngstown State on Saturday. The Titans dropped to 0-4 overall, while the Penguins improved to 6-1 on the season.
The game marked the first time the schools have met since 1981. Westminster owns a 29-18 advantage in the all-time series.
Carswell's 21 points marked his third 20-point game of his career. Titan Anthony Thomas (New Castle, PA / Union) scored seven points and is five points away from becoming the 36th Titan to score 1,000 career points. Freshman John Arcuri (Oakmont, PA / Saint Joseph) also scored seven points, followed by classmates Jason Pilarski (Pittsburgh, PA / Brentwood) and Matt Getsy (Mars, PA / Mars) with six points each. Carswell led Westminster with six rebounds, followed by sophomore Charlie Wallander (Pittsburgh, PA / Baldwin) with four.
For the Penguins, Bobby Hain had game-highs of 16 points and nine rebounds. YSU out-shot Westminster 45.9% (34-74) to 30.8% (20-65) and dominated on the glass with a 66-20 rebound edge.
Westminster will travel to Mount Union on Tuesday with a start time of 7:30 p.m.
