NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - Westminster College senior football player Dave Wright (Solon, OH / Solon) was named to the 2013 Capital One Academic All-District Football Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
A 6-foot-5 tight end, Wright earned first-team honors for NCAA Division III District 4. As a first-team selection, Wright will be on the ballot for Academic All-America status which will be selected later this month.
Wright, a business administration major with a 3.77 grade-point average has been a key contributor to Westminster's passing game. The Titans currently rank fifth in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) averaging 239.2 yards a game. Wright has also aided Titan senior quarterback Dak Britt (Battle Creek, MI / Battle Creek) who is currently ranked fifth in the conference averaging 236.6 yards per game.
To be nominated for the Academic All-District teams a student must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA and have competed at his or her current institution for one year.
Westminster will play at Thiel on Saturday at 7 p.m. in Greenville, Pa.
