Friday, November 8, 2013NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - Westminster senior volleyball player Rebecca Riemer (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon) was named to the 2013 Capital One Academic All-District Volleyball Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Riemer earned first-team honors for NCAA Division III District 4 for the third-straight year.
As a first-team selection, Riemer will be on the ballot for Academic All-America status which will be selected later this month.
Riemer, a biology major with a 3.97 grade-point average, is a third-year starting outside hitter for the Titans. She is currently ranked first in the conference with a .343 hitting percentage. Riemer is also third on the team with 249 kills and second with 82 blocks.
To be nominated for the Academic All-District teams a student must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA and have competed at his or her current institution for one year.
The no. 4-seeded Westminster will play the no. 1-seeded Bethany tonight at 6 p.m. in the PAC Semifinals in Bethany, W. Va.
