NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College men's soccer team tied with Bethany, 1-1, in double overtime on Wednesday. The Titans went to 6-7-1 overall and 0-1-1 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference, while the Bison moved to 4-8-1 overall and 0-1-1 in the conference.
After a scoreless game at halftime, Titan sophomore Austin Ewers (New Wilmington, PA / Wilmington Area) gave Westminster a 1-0 lead after he scored in the 52nd minute off a penalty kick for his fourth goal of the season.
Bethany responded six minutes later after Lamine Balde found the back of the net.
Both teams had 12 shots on the night, while Titan sophomore Marcus Gurgiolo (Edinburg, PA / Mohawk Area) had a team-high four shots with two on goal.
Westminster senior goalie Joe Bonish (Newport News, VA / Woodside) collected five saves in a complete-game effort.
The Titans will host Saint Vincent on Saturday at 8 p.m. during homecoming weekend.
