CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Westminster College volleyball team went 1-1 in the final day of the two-day 15th Annual Marcia French Memorial Invitational on Saturday. The Titans finished runner-up with a 3-1 record and a 9-4 sets record out of ten schools. Titan senior Claire Ferrando (North Jackson, OH / Western Reserve) was named to the All-Tournament team. Westminster improved to 7-1 on the season.
The Titans suffered its first loss of the season in game one on Saturday to John Carroll, 3-0 (25-20, 25-21, 26-24). Senior Megan Romocean (Ravenna, OH / Southeast) led the Titan offense with 11 kills, while sophomore Megan Prybyl (Mars, PA / North Catholic) and senior Rebecca Riemer (Pittsburgh, PA / Mount Lebanon) added seven kills each. Senior Chrissy Volsko (Canfield, OH / Austintown Fitch) led Westminster's defense, tying a career-high with 16 digs. Ferrando followed with 13 digs, while Romocean had eight. Senior Katie Palkovic (Camp Hill, PA / Trinity) dished-out a team-high 27 assists.
Westminster rebounded in game two and blanked Wooster, 3-0 (25-11, 26-24, 25-21). Romocean had team-highs in kills (13) and aces (5). Prybyl added nine kills, nine digs, and two aces. Palkovic led with 32 assists.
The Titans will open their Presidents' Athletic Conference slate next Saturday as they travel to Thomas More at 1 p.m.
