Track & Field: Titans Compete at Wooster Invite

WOOSTER, Ohio - The Westminster College track & field teams competed at the Wooster Invitational on Saturday. The men's team placed second out of five schools with 104.50 points, while the women's team placed fifth out of six schools with 84 points.

Freshman Angela Colella (West Middlesex, PA / West Middlesex) led the women's team with a first-place finish in the long jump with a leap of 4.95 meters. Freshman Marissa Kalsey (Waynesburg, PA / Waynesburg) and senior Sydney Spain (Batavia, IL / Batavia) earned second-place finishes. Kalsey took second in the pole vault (3.65m) and Spain finished second in the 3,000 meter steeplechase (12:22.13).

On the men's side, freshman Nick Fiorentino (Franklin, PA / Franklin) earned the lone first-place finish for the Titans as he won the javelin with a toss of 49.48 meters. Earning second-place finishes for Westminster were senior Adam Carswell (Painesville, OH / Notre Dame Cathedral Latin) (400m. dash/49.81), junior Aaron Sutton (Warren, OH / Howland) (5,000m run/16:09.40), and freshman Paul Carswell (Painesville, OH / Notre Dame Cathedral Latin) (long jump/6.27m).

Westminster is back in action when it competes at Carnegie Mellon next Saturday.
