Volleyball: Swearingen Honored with Position on AVCA Board of Directors

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - Head volleyball coach Tammy Swearingen was appointed as the NCAA Division III representative to the board of directors of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA).

"This is a tremendous honor for me to be selected for such a leadership position as this," Swearingen said. "I am honored and thrilled that the AVCA reached out to me and that I am able to serve the organization."

The AVCA is an organization dedicated to advancing the sport of volleyball and its coaches. It covers the NCAA Division I, II, and III levels, the NAIA level, and junior college and men's leagues.

Swearingen's responsibilities include directing monthly conference calls for the Division III Head Coaches Committee (which includes one coach from each conference) and chairing the Head Coaches Committee meeting and the general Division III head coaches meeting at the AVCA Convention. Swearingen will be attending the annual AVCA board meeting in May.

Swearingen boasts a 20-year career record of 452-254 (.640) including 14 seasons with 20 or more wins and a pair of 30-win seasons.
