Thursday, September 6, 2012STEUBENVILLE, Ohio - The Westminster College women's tennis team traveled to Franciscan today and topped the Lady Barons 8-1 in a nonconference match. The Titans improved to 2-0 on the year, while the Barons dropped to 2-1.
Westminster swept singles, while two players blanked their respective opponent. Senior Alex Bailey Murrysville, PA / Franklin Regional) at no. 1 and junior Caitlin Hosler (Lititz, PA / Manheim Central) at no. 2 did not surrender a point for the Titans. The duo also shutout their opponent in no. 1 doubles.
Westminster junior Heather Santa (Butler, PA / Butler) and sophomore Lauren Fling (Norton, OH / Norton) fought hard in the no. 2 doubles, but lost the Titans' only match of the day 8-6.
The Titans will play Thomas More Sunday at 12 p.m. at Bethany College.
