The Titans put on an offensive showcase as they topped Grove City 21-4 in a nine-inning conference matchup. The Titans' offense produced 23 hits, including four home runs for the game. Westminster led 7-0 after three inning and then broke open the game with seven runs in the top of the fourth. Westminster homered four times, led by junior Tyler Robinson (Creston, PA / Norwayne) who hit the ball over the fence in the second inning and in the fourth. Westminster stayed perfect in the PAC after a 16-9 win over Geneva. Senior pitcher Justin Prejsnar (New Castle, PA / New Castle) picked up the win in seven innings of work for Westminster and stayed undefeated at 4-0 on the season. The Titans offense was powered by senior Justin King (Fombell, PA / Riverside) who went 4-for-6 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Westminster split a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) doubleheader on Saturday at Geneva College. In game one, the Titans relied on the arm of senior pitcher Patrick Mulligan (Brookfield, OH / Brookefield) and the bat of classmate Tim Wiand (Pottstown, PA / Owen J. Roberts) as they dominated for a 15-5 win. Westminster lost 2-0 in the nightcap.

The Westminster College softball team continued its impressive winning streak versus Presidents' Athletic Conference rival Washington and Jefferson by winning 8-2 in the first game and 1-0 (8) in the nightcap. In game one, the Presidents struck first with a run in the top of the first inning. The run was unearned for junior Pitcher Chelsea Brown (New Castle, PA / Mohawk) (8-4), and she was near perfect after that. She pitched yet another complete game, while striking out five, and only giving up three hits. She earned her eighth win of the season after winning four decisions last week. In the second game, neither team scored a run in regulation and it was forced into an extra frame. Erica Pamer started the rally with a single and she later stole second base. Sophomore second baseman Kelsey Squelch (Pittsburgh, PA / Perry Traditional) then hit in the go-ahead run as she singled through the left side of the infield. The team then extended its win streak to 10 games after a sweep at Waynesburg. The Lady Titans won the first game 12-1 and the second game 10-3. In game one, Westminster wasted no time as they scored three runs in the first inning. Junior shortstop Katie Hughes (Boardman, OH / Cardinal Mooney) singled in junior Catcher Olet Stasko (McDonald, PA / West Allegheny) for the first run of the game. Sophomore first baseman Lauren Stocyznski (Erie, PA / Harbor Creek) then had a two RBI single to right field. Chelsea Brown (10-4) earned the win for Westminster. She pitched a complete game six innings with six strikeouts and only gave up one earned run. In the second game, Westminster scored nine runs in the fifth inning. Chelsea Brown had a three RBI double, Kelsey Squelch hit her first career homerun, which plated three runs, and Katie Hughes hit a two-run homerun. Squelch and Hughes each finished with two hits apiece to led the Lady Titans.

MEN'S and WOMEN'S OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD

04/07/2012 at Carnegie Mellon, Women (1st/176 Points), Men (2nd/166 Points)

The Westminster College track and field teams competed at the Carnegie Mellon University on Saturday. CMU, Penn State-Behrend, and Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) rival Washington and Jefferson also participated. The women finished first with 176 points, while the men placed second with 166 points. For the men, Senior Ryan Bell (New Wilmington, PA / Wilmington) won the javelin throw with a 64.51 meter throw. Junior Mark Saylor (West Middlesex, PA / West Middlesex) won the pole vault with a 4.48 meter jump. Sophomore Anthony Thomas (New Castle, PA / Union) won the triple jump with a leap of 13.54 meters. Thomas also placed third in the long jump with a leap of 6.53 meters. Junior Adam Carswell (Painesville, OH / Notre Dame Cathedral Latin) won the 400 meter run with a time of 50.09. In the 100 meter dash, senior J.J. Faltot (Mercer, PA / Mercer) won the event with a time of 11.46. On the women's side, Senior Emily Dolsak (McDonald, OH / McDonald) won the discus with a throw of 44.38 meters, this broke her previous school record of 43.64 from last season. Dolsak also finished second in the shot put with a throw of 10.90 meters. Senior Alisha Slater (Wooster, OH / Norwayne) won the long jump with a 5.32 meter leap.

The Westminster College men's tennis team suffered a setback on Tuesday as it lost in a nonconference matchup to Allegheny College 9-0. The Titans dropped to 3-9 on the season, while the Gators improved to 6-6. Westminster juniors Ryan Carr (Cheektowaga, NY / Cheektowaga Central) and Marshall Finelli (Girard, OH / Ursuline) battled in the third doubles spot, but lost 8-4.
