WOMEN'S SWIMMING

Westminster College senior swimmer Caitlin Lehberger (New Wilmington, PA / Wilmington) capped off her collegiate career with her ninth All-American laurel as she finished second in the 200-yard breaststroke in the final day of the NCAA Division III National Championships on Saturday.

Lehberger, seeded in the sixth spot, finished second with a school-record time of 2:15.86. The time also broke Lehberger's personal best time of 2:18.50.

[Assistant head coach] Pat Smith told me, ‘Don't be careless and don't be too careful,'", recounted Lehberger. "While I was swimming, I thought to myself that it was my last race at Westminster," said Lehberger. "I gave it my all, definitely."

This marked Lehberger's third All-American honor of the week. She placed sixth in 200-yard individual medley (2:04.26) on Wednesday and second in the 100-yard breaststroke Friday night with a school-record time of 1:02.57.

The baseball team beat PAC foe Thiel three times this past weekend. The first game was at home, Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Titan Athlete of the Week senior Justin Prejsnar (New Castle, PA / New Castle) was on the mound for Westminster and stayed perfect at 3-0 after a complete game victory.

After a postponed game on Saturday, the Titans made up the Twin Bill on Sunday. In game one, Westminster senior pitcher Patrick Mulligan (Brookfield, OH / Brookfield) threw a complete game en route to his third win on the season (3-0). Game two looked to be more one sided with the Titans taking a 7-2 lead into the seventh inning. Westminster held on as the Tomcats mustered four late runs. The Titans' offense was paced by senior Ethan Yeager (Pottstown, PA / Owen J. Roberts) who added three RBI.

SOFTBALL (6-10, 0-0 PAC)

The softball team lost two games to Case Western Reserve on the road; they were shutout in both games. On Friday in the home opener, the Lady Titans split a doubleheader with then 13-1 Penn State-Altoona. In the bottom of the eighth inning, junior shortstop Katie Hughes (Boardman, OH / Cardinal Mooney) led off with a single and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by freshman designated hitter Carly Wallock (DuBois, PA / DuBois). Senior third baseman Erica Kimmick (Parma, OH / Cuyahoga Heights) got the game winning single as she drove in Hughes. Junior pitcher Chelsea Brown (New Castle, PA / Mohawk) (3-4) earned the win for the Lady Titans. She pitched a complete game, striking out five batters, and giving up no earned runs.

MEN'S TENNIS (2-8, 2-1 PAC)

The Westminster College men's tennis team fell short 5-4 today in a non-conference match versus Franciscan University. The duo of juniors Sean Black (Aurora, OH / Aurora) and Ryan Carr (Cheektowaga, NY / Cheektowaga Central) won the lone doubles for Westminster by blanking their opposition 8-0. The fourth, fifth, and sixth singles picked up wins for the Titans. Junior Brad Thomas (Warren, OH / Champion) won in the fourth spot (6-2, 6-2). Junior Ryan Carr (Cheektowaga, NY / Cheektowaga Central) battled in the fifth spot and won 6-3, 7-6 (9-7). Rounding out the single winners was freshman Mike Matisi (Lowellville, OH / Lowellville) who won convincingly in the sixth spot, 6-1, 6-0.

MEN'S and WOMEN'S OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD

03/24/2012 at Muskingum Invitational, Men (2nd/6, 103.50 Points), Women (2nd/6, 172 Points)

Westminster posted wins in 21 different events at Grove City on Tuesday; the men won nine while the women won 12. Senior Mallory Mack (Carnegie, PA / Chartiers Valley) led the way for the women's team winning two individual events and she was part of two relay wins. On the men's side, sophomore Anthony Thomas (New Castle, PA / Union) led the Titans with three wins in the field events. He won the high jump with a mark of 1.78 meters. In the long jump, Thomas won with a mark of 6.68 meters. Thomas' final win came in the triple jump with a mark of 12.93 meters.

The Westminster College outdoor track and field team's both placed second at the Amy Adams Memorial Invitational at Muskingum College. For the women's team, sophomore Haley Gabor (New Kensington, PA / Ford City) won the 200-meter and the 400-meter dash with times of 26.44 and 58.94, respectively. In the long jump, sophomore Anthony Thomas won with a mark of 6.54 meters.

Anthony Thomas was awarded the PAC Field Athlete of the Week honor for his performances last week.

The Westminster College women's golf team placed fifth out of six teams at the Grove City College Invitational held Saturday at the Grove City Country Club. The Lady Titans shot a 404.

Senior Pam Bonneau (McMurray, PA / Peters Township) led Westminster by shooting an 86 (43-43) to tie for third place overall. Bonneau was honored with the PAC Co-Golfer of the Week Award for her performance. Sophomore Jenna Huston (Beaver Falls, PA / Blackhawk) shot a 95 (47-48) to tie for 10th overall.

The Westminster College men's golf team placed fourth out of 10 teams as hosts of the Westminster Invitational held Monday at the New Castle Country Club. Westminster's senior David Mlinarich (North Huntingdon, PA / Norwin) and freshman Ross Montanti (Gibsonia, PA / Pine-Richland) tied for 18th place with an 83. Other Titan scores included sophomore David Paladino (Jefferson Hills, PA / Thomas Jefferson) and senior Nate Silvis (St. Petersburg, PA / Allegheny Clarion Valley) who both shot an 84 for a 21st-place tie.
