Women’s Soccer: Bradnam’s Goal Lifts Titans Past Marietta

Saturday, August 30, 2014

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - Junior Rebecca Bradnam's (Irwin, PA / Hempfield) 46th-minute goal was all the Westminster women's soccer team needed, as the Titans won, 1-0, over the visiting Pioneers of Marietta on Saturday.

The Titans improved to 1-1 on the season, while Marietta fell to 0-2.

After breaking through Marietta's defense, Bradnam made a move past the Pioneers' goalie to score her first goal of the season.

Titan junior Rachael Letscher (Canfield, OH / Cardinal Mooney) played a complete match in the shutout and collected six saves. The Titan defense, led by sophomore Sammy Creese (Mount Airy, MD / Glenelg), provided a strong backline throughout the night.

Each team had 10 shots, while Titan junior Gretchen Schwarz (Hudson, OH / Hudson) had a game-high two shots-on-goal.

Westminster will take a nine-game road trip, starting with the Manchester/Anderson Tournament in Indiana on Friday, Sept. 5. The Titans will play Anderson at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Manchester at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
