NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - Senior Jenny Jones (Erie, PA / Fort LeBoeuf) finished fifth (24:48.4), pacing the Westminster women's cross country team for a second-place finish at the annual Fisher Invitational on the campus of Westminster. In the field of 93 runners, the Titans scored 83 points against seven other schools.
Julie Gerber of Waynesburg was the medalist (22:46.0), while the Yellow Jackets won with 24 points.
First year Katelynn Morrell (Boardman, OH) finished next for Westminster in 12th (25:05.3). Classmate Paige Baierl (Bellevue, PA) followed in 20th (25:14.4).
Rounding out the top seven finishers for Westminster were sophomore Keilah Ireland (Nashua, NH / Nashua North) (27:31.5), sophomore Jenny Rodgers (State College, PA / State College) (27:34.1), sophomore Hannah Kappel (Ligonier, PA) (27:42.7 ), and junior Sara Monts (Duncansville, PA / Hollidaysburg Area) (27:43.7).
The Titans will take a week off until they compete at Bethany on Sept. 13.
