High Fives: April 7 – April 13

High Fives are the Top-5 performances by Westminster athletes during the previous week as selected by the Titan Sports Blogger.

#1 - Sophomore Nick Fiorentino (Track & Field) helped the Titans secure a third-place team finish at Saturday's Westminster Invitational. He won the shot put with a personal-best throw of 46'7", finished fifth in the discus with a personal-best mark of 127' and seventh in the javelin (162"1.5").

#2 - Senior Kelsey Squelch (Softball) scored the game-winner in game one with a double to center field, scoring freshman Francesca Nardone in the third inning in Westminster's 1-0 win versus Saint Vincent. Squelch also capped off the Titans' 3-2 comeback win against Waynesburg with her second game-winning hit, scoring Nardone with a double in the top of the seventh.

#3 -Westminster senior Haley Gabor (Track & Field) guided the Titans to a third-place finish at the school's invitational on Saturday as she set a PR with a second-place time of 25.99 (.61 seconds off a school-record) in the 200. Gabor also set a season-best time of 58.06 in the 400 for second place.

#4 - Titan junior pitcher Ashley Smith (Softball) tallied a team-high three wins (3-1 overall) in four appearance (three starts), while boasting an ERA of 1.28. Smith shutout Saint Vincent in a complete-game effort, while tying a career-best eight strikeouts.

#5 - Sophomore Troy Abbott (Men's Tennis)- Against Bethany, Abbott and junior Mike Matisi won at no. 1 doubles, 8-3. Abbott also won no. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-2. Against Thomas More, Abbott won at no. 1 singles in dramatic fashion; won set one, 6-4, lost set two, 6-3, and won the match after winning the tiebreaker, 13-11.

Honorable Mention:
-Sophomore Zach Merrell (Baseball) came in for relief with bases loaded and no outs and only saw Grove City score off a sacrifice fly. Merrell only allowed one hit and no runs in Westminster's 5-3 win.
- Senior David Paladino (Men's Golf) paced the Titans at the Edward Jones Shootout.
- Junior Morgan Pierce (Women's Golf) led Westminster to a fourth-place finish at the Grove City Invitational. Pierce also carded a team-best 98 (49-49) for ninth-place at the Westminster Invitational.
