Softball: Titans Drop Two Games in Florida

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - The Westminster College (2-2) softball team lost two games on Monday in day two of its Florida Trip. The Titans lost, 3-0, to Beloit in game one and lost, 4-2, to Washington in the nightcap.

Titan sophomore Amber Forrest (Clear Spring, MD / Clear Spring) got the loss in game one and moved to 1-1 on the season. Forrest pitched a complete game and gave up three runs (two earned) off five hits. Forrest tallied a career-high nine strikeouts and only had one walk. Westminster threatened to put runs on the board in the seventh inning with runners on second and third base, however, the Titans were unable to score.

In game two, down 2-0 in the bottom of the third inning, Westminster cut into Washington's lead after freshman Shelby Brown (New Castle, PA / Mohawk) connected on a RBI-double. Beloit took a 3-1 lead in the top of the fourth. Brown brought Westminster within one run, again, after a RBI-single with two outs in the bottom of the fifth. Washington added an insurance run in the seventh.

The Titans will continue their 10-game Florida Trip tomorrow when the play Marietta at 9 a.m. and Greensboro at 11 a.m.
