Men's Tennis: Titans Win Season Opener at PS-Behrend

ERIE, Pa. - The Westminster College men's tennis team opened its 2014 season with a 5-4 win at Penn. State-Behrend on Friday.

Westminster won the first three singles matches. Titan sophomore Troy Abbott (Seven Fields, PA / Seneca Valley) won at no. 1 singles 6-2, 6-1.  Senior Ryan Carr (Cheektowaga, NY / Cheektowaga Central) followed with a 7-5, 6-2 win at no. 2 singles, while junior Mark Andino (Norwalk, CT / Norwalk) won no. 3 singles, 7-5, 6-2.

In doubles, Andino teamed up with sophomore Ethan McCarthy (New Castle, PA / Neshannock) for an 8-4 win at no. 2. Freshman Sam Angelo (Warren, OH / Warren G. Harding) partnered with sophomore Mark Zalakar (Glenshaw, PA / Shaler Area) for an 8-4 win at no. 3 doubles.

The Titans will travel to Olean, N.Y. to play Pitt-Bradford tomorrow with a starting time of 11 a.m.
