Volleyball: Titans Top Washington & Jefferson in Straight Sets

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College volleyball team won, 3-0, against Washington & Jefferson inside Buzz Ridl Gymnasium Tuesday night. The Titans improved to 21-6 overall and 9-4 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference, while the Presidents dropped to 11-7 overall and 3-7 in the conference.

Westminster swept all three sets with scores of 28-26, 25-14, and 25-21.

Titan senior Megan Romocean (Ravenna, OH / Southeast) led the offense with a game-high 13 kills and added eight digs on defense. Classmate Lexi Starheim (Hubbard, OH / Hubbard) also registered double-digit kills with 12, while senior Rebecca Riemer (Pittsburgh, PA / Mount Lebanon) and junior Kassie Freyermuth (Allison Park, PA / North Allegheny) added seven and six kills, respectively. Setting up the offense was senior Katie Palkovic (Camp Hill, PA / Trinity) with a game-high 41 assists. Senior Claire Ferrando (North Jackson, OH / Western Reserve) led Westminster's defense with 20 digs, while Palkovic added nine. Senior Chrissy Volsko (Canfield, OH / Austintown Fitch) and sophomore Megan Prybyl (Mars, PA / North Catholic) each had six digs. Riemer added a team-high four blocks.

Westminster will host a tri-match on Thursday. The Titans play Grove City on 5 p.m. and Franciscan at 8 p.m.
