Volleyball: Titans Fall, 3-1, to PAC Foe Bethany

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College volleyball team lost, 3-1, to Bethany in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) showdown on Tuesday inside Buzz Ridl Gymnasium. The Titans dropped to 14-4 overall and 5-3 in the PAC, while the Bison improved to 15-4 and 7-0 in the conference.

The Titans lost set one, 25-22, and set two, 25-20, however rebounded and won set three 25-21. After out-hitting Westminster, 62% (14-35) to 34% (6-27), in the fourth set, Bethany won the set 25-15.

Westminster seniors Lexi Starheim (Hubbard, OH / Hubbard) and Megan Romocean (Ravenna, OH / Southeast) led the offense with 10 kills each. Classmate Rebecca Riemer (Pittsburgh, PA / Mount Lebanon) and junior Kassie Freyermuth (Allison Park, PA / North Allegheny) followed with eight and seven kills, respectively.

Titan senior Claire Ferrando (North Jackson, OH / Western Reserve) led the defense with a game-high 18 digs. Classmate Chrissy Volsko (Canfield, OH / Austintown Fitch) contributed with seven digs, while Romocean and senior Katie Palkovic (Camp Hill, PA / Trinity) added six digs each. Palkovic also engineered the offense with a team-high 39 assists.  Starheim added five blocks (four assists and one solo).

Westminster will travel to Grove City on Thursday with a start time of 7 p.m.
