STEUBENVILLE, Ohio - The Westminster College women's soccer team lost, 2-1, at Franciscan (Ohio) on Monday night. The Titans dropped to 3-3 overall, while the Lady Barons improved to 5-2.
Franciscan scored its first goal when Hannah Cooke found Jordan Byrley for the score with 3:11 on the clock to give the Lady Barons an early 1-0 lead.
After a 1-0 halftime lead, Franciscan added insurance with off a penalty kick in the 76th minute.
The Titans responded one minute later when senior Jordan Steele (Falconer, NY / Falconer Central) found sophomore Krista Edwards (Summerville, PA / Springdale) for the goal. This was Edwards's second goal of the year, tying first on the team.
For the game, Franciscan out-shot Westminster, 13-10, however the Titans had a 7-5 shot-advantage in the second half.
Titan sophomore goalie Maddy Frech (Leechburg, PA / Kiski Area) got the loss in a complete game effort, while earning four saves.
Westminster looks to get back in the win column when it hosts LaRoche on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
