Kalsey Sets Outdoor Pole Vault Record at SRU Last Chance Qualifier

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Freshman Marissa Kalsey (Marissa Kalsey (Waynesburg, PA / Waynesburg), a member of the Westminster College women's track and field teams, won the pole vault at the Slippery Rock University Last Chance Qualifier on Friday as she broke her own school-record with a mark of 3.97 meters.

Kalsey, who broke the school's indoor pole vault record with a 3.95 meters mark at Nationals where she earned the distinction of All-American this past winter, moved to third in the nation with her performance on Friday and will most likely compete in the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships which will take place May 23-25 in LaCrosse, Wis.

Also earning first-place for Westminster was senior Sydney Spain (Batavia, IL / Batavia) who won the 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 12:21.34.  

Rounding out the top-3 finishers for the Titans were freshman Adriana DePorzio (New Castle, PA) who placed second in the 100m hurdles (15:39) and senior Mark Saylor (West Middlesex, PA / West Middlesex) who placed third in the pole vault with a 4.60m mark.

Selected team members will compete at Allegheny College on Friday, May 10.
