Women's Golf: Titans Take Fifth as Host of the Eckles Invitational

NEW CASTLE, Pa. - The Westminster College women's golf team held its only home meet of the season Monday by placing fifth out of eight teams as hosts of the Mary Cleland Eckles Invitational at the New Castle Country Club. The Titans posted a team score of 411.

Mount Union won the event with a 382. Mount Union's Ashlee Marvin was the medalist with a 92 (49-43) after winning the tie-breaker.

Junior Rachel Sherman (North East, PA / North East) led the Titans by tying for seventh place with a 95 (46-49). Sophomore Morgan Pierce (Fredonia, PA / Reynolds) tied for 12th with a 97 (45-52). Junior Jenna Huston (Beaver Falls, PA / Blackhawk) cracked the top-20 finishers as she tied for 20th with a 101 (52-49). Rounding out the Titan finishers were sophomore Jordan McGee (Punxsutawney, PA / Punxsutawney) (t36th/118) and freshman Carly Boughner (Cooperstown, PA / Rocky Grove) (39th/119).

Westminster will compete at Mercyhurst next Saturday and Sunday at 12:00 p.m.
