Baseball: Saint Vincent Tops the Titans 6-3

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College baseball team lost, 6-3, to Saint Vincent at home in a nine-inning game on Thursday. The Titans dropped to 9-10 overall and 2-5 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference, while the Bearcats improved to 7-7 overall and 4-1 in conference play.

Tied 3-3 in the top of the sixth inning, Saint Vincent pulled away with three runs. Saint Vincent crossed home plate off a Titan throwing error followed by an RBI-single, giving the Bearcats a 5-3 lead. The Bearcats added one more score off a sacrifice fly to right field. Titan senior pitcher Liam Halferty (Pittsburgh, PA / Central Catholic) (2-2) got the loss after 2.1 innings pitched. Halferty gave up three runs (two earned) off seven hits.

For the game, Saint Vincent out-hit the Titans 16-9. Senior Chris Ross (West Pittsburg, PA / New Castle), sophomore Jared Heck (Pittsburgh, PA / North Hills), and junior Nick Reinthaler (Canfield, OH / Canfield) earned multiple hits for the Titans.

The Titans will look to get back in the win column when they host Case Western Reserve on Saturday in a non-conference doubleheader. Game one is slated for 1 p.m.
