Volleyball: Titans Win Seventh-Straight After Two Shutouts

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The Westminster College volleyball team won two matches in shutout fashion Thursday night. The Titans blanked Chatham 3-0 (25-16, 25-15, 25-7) and La Roche 3-0 (25-6, 25-8, 25-20) at the Chatham Tri-Match.

Against Chatham, junior Megan Romocean (Ravenna, OH/Southeast) led the Titan offense with 10 kills and two aces. Sophomore Kassie Freyermuth (Allison Park, PA / North Allegheny) followed with eight kills to go along with a team-high four block assists. Junior Rebecca Riemer (Pittsburgh, PA / Mount Lebanon) contributed with seven kills and three block assists. Junior Katie Palkovic (Camp Hill, PA / Trinity) earned a team-high 35 assists, while classmate Chrissy Volsko (Canfield, OH / Austintown Fitch) led Titan defense with 12 digs.

In game two versus La Roche, freshman Megan Prybyl (Mars, PA/North Catholic) set a career-best with a team-high eight aces to go along with six kills. Romocean had a team-best seven kills and two aces. Volsko and freshman Erin Kennedy (Oakmont, PA/Riverview) each had two aces and led the Titan defense with 13 and six digs, respectively. Palkovic added 19 assists and an ace.

Westminster will play at the Washington & Jefferson Tri-Match on Saturday and will face Thomas More at 1 p.m. and Washington & Jefferson at 3 p.m.
