The Westminster College men's basketball team had a busy final week of the season. They played three times last week all on the road. In a win versus Penn State-Greater Allegheny, Junior Doug Smith (South Park, PA / South Park) led the Titans with 19 points including 4-10 from beyond the arc. A balanced scoring attack for the Titans put three other members into double-figures. Sophomore Anthony Thomas (New Castle, PA / Union) and junior Ron Martino (Youngstown, OH / Cardinal Mooney) had 14 and 13 points, respectively. The Titans then fell to PAC foe Bethany 91-65, sophomore guard Anthony Thomas led Westminster with a game high 23 points.

In a battle for the sixth seed of the 2011-12 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Tournament, the Titans lost to Geneva 100-85.  The Titans finished the regular season 6-19 overall and 5-12 in the PAC. Sophomore Anthony Thomas led the Titans with a career-high 27 points (11-19), including four three-pointers. Also reaching a career milestone was junior Ron Martino with 19 points off 7-for-14 shooting.

The Westminster College men's basketball team ended its 2011-12 season following a 63-57 loss to Waynesburg College in the opening round of the 2012 Presidents' Athletic Conference Tournament. Anthony Thomas tied his game- and career-high with 27 points (10-for-17), which included a team-high four three-pointers. Ben Donlow (Poland, OH / Poland Seminary) chipped in with 18 points (6-for-21).

The Westminster College women's basketball team lost 63-56 to the Bethany Bisons. Junior Andi Ridge (North Tonawanda, NY / Starpoint) guided the Lady Titans with 13 points and 11 rebounds, while recording her fourth career double-double. The Lady Titans won their regular season finale versus Geneva 58-42. Junior Katie Hughes (Boardman, OH / Cardinal Mooney) led the Titans with 12 points. Sophomore Courtney Zitt (Latrobe, PA / Greater Latrobe) chipped in with 11 points while shooting 4-of- 6 from the floor. Junior Jenn Cantella (Freedom, PA / Freedom) hit two three-pointers and finished the game with eight points. 11 different players recorded points for the Titans.

The Titans regular season play has ended and next week the PAC Tournament will begin. With the win tonight, the Titans locked up the fifth seed in the conference. They will travel to the fourth seed Bethany on Tuesday in a quarterfinal match-up at 6 p.m.

MEN'S (7-4, 3-1 PAC) and WOMEN'S (7-5, 3-2 PAC) SWIMMING & DIVING

The Westminster College men's and women's swimming and diving teams finished second in the 2011-12 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Swimming & Diving Championships. The championships were hosted by Grove City College. The men finished with 711 points, while the women scored 665.5.

Senior Caitlin Lehberger (New Wilmington, PA / Wilmington), was tabbed the 2012 PAC Women's Swimming Most Valuable Performer during the 2011-12 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Swimming & Diving Championships. In the last PAC Championship of her career, Lehberger saved her best for last by earning two NCAA automatic qualifying times, three championships, a conference record, and two school and pool records.

02/18/2012 12:00 PM at Kenyon College Classic, No Team Scoring

The Titans broke five schools records Saturday at the Kenyon College Classic. The women's team earned a win and broke a school record in the 200-meter relay with a time of 1:48.97. The previous record was 1:49.52 set in 2009. In the 60-meter dash, Mallory Mack (Carnegie, PA / Chartiers Valley) broke her own previous Westminster record of 8.22 from 2009 with a time of 8.18. Kristen Batista (Mineral Ridge, OH / Mineral Ridge) finished third (8.37) and Haley Ebersbacher (Chesterland, OH / West Geauga) placed fourth (8.41). Batista also broke a school record in the 60-meter hurdles as she won the event with a time of 9.71. The previous record was also held by her from earlier this month (9.83).

On the men's side, the 200-meter relay team set a new school record with their time of 1:35.05, placing them in second. The previous record was 1:35.98 set in 1996. J.J. Faltot (Mercer, PA / Mercer) broke his school record in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.30. The previous record was from earlier this month (7.38). In the field events for the men, junior Mark Saylor (West Middlesex, PA / West Middlesex) won the pole vault with a mark of 4.57.

MEN'S TENNIS (0-1, 0-0 PAC)

The Westminster College men's tennis team opened its 2012 season on Sunday as they traveled to Edinboro University. The Titans lost to the Fighting Scots, 9-0. In the second doubles, the duo of senior Drew Trifelos (Newark, OH / Granville Christian Academy) and junior Sean Black (Aurora, OH / Aurora) won three games in an 8-3 loss.
