
Six Westminster College sports teams competed down south during spring break March 8-14. The baseball team posted a 3-6 record in Fort Pierce, Fla., with two games canceled and a new one added. The softball team went 2-6 at the Rebel Games in Kissimmee, Fla., with two games canceled. The men’s tennis team lost two and the women’s tennis team won two with both teams having a match rained out in Hilton Head Island, S.C. The men’s and women’s track & field teams competed at Coastal Carolina University in Myrtle Beach, S.C. In addition, some Titan varsity athletes volunteered in Iowa, Alabama and The Bahamas during spring break.

Baseball and Softball: Four Titans Sweep PAC Hitter and Pitcher of the Week Awards NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - Baseball and softball players from Westminster College swept all four of the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) hitter and pitcher of the week awards for March 8-14. Senior catcher Dan Argiro (New Castle, Pa./New Castle) and sophomore pitcher Justin Prejsnar (New Castle, Pa./New Castle) were named PAC Baseball Hitter and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, while junior catcher/shortstop Ashley Beltz (Ellwood City, Pa./Laurel) and junior pitcher Amber Crompton (Finleyville, Pa./Ringgold) were named PAC Softball Hitter and Pitcher of the Week. |
Baseball: Prejsnar's 10-Strikeout Shutout Highlights Titans' Final Three Florida Games FORT PIERCE, Fla. - The Westminster College baseball team wrapped up its nine-game trip to Fort Pierce, Fla., with a 1-2 record in games played on Saturday night and Sunday morning. The Titans were scheduled to play a doubleheader vs. Manhattanville on Saturday afternoon but those games were rained out. Westminster then agreed to play Centenary (N.J.) in a nine-inning game later that night, losing 11-7, before the Titans split a twin bill with Mitchell (Conn.) on Sunday, winning the first game 7-0 and losing the second game, 3-2. |
Softball: Titans Go 1-3 in Final Four Games in Florida KISSIMMEE, Fla. - The Westminster College softball team went a combined 1-3 this weekend in its final four games at the Rebel Games in Kissimmee, Fla. The Titans lost to Fontbonne, 3-1, and William Paterson, 1-0, on Saturday before losing to Massachusetts Liberal Arts, 2-1, in eight innings and beating Utica, 10-1, on Sunday. Westminster is now 2-6 on the season after opening the season with eight games in Florida. |
Track & Field: Titans Open Outdoor Season at Coastal Carolina Invite CONWAY, S.C. - After spending an entire week training in Myrtle Beach, S.C., the Westminster College men's and women's track and field teams opened up their 2010 outdoor seasons on Saturday by competing in the Coastal Carolina University Invitational. The unscored meet featured over 1,400 athletes from 37 schools, many of which were Division I teams. |
