With breathtaking songs that began their life with Karen and Richard Carpenter, Yesterday Once More takes audiences back in time; recapturing the music an entire generation fell in love with, and fell in love to. The performance is enhanced with behind-the-scenes stories and anecdotes of the pop culture of the ’70s, along with lush arrangements by Jim Brickman of Carpenter songs. Vocalists Joanna Jahn (The Karen Carpenter Musical), Broadway sensation Jen Burleigh-Bentz (Mamma Mia!) and international recording artist John Tranes accompanied by a four-piece band bring world-class appeal to this live soundtrack of love, life and heartbreak.

Each year the spring Alumni Council meeting serves as the annual Westminster Alumni Association meeting. The 2012 meeting will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 14, in the Witherspoon Rooms on the third floor of McKelvey Campus Center. Lunch will be provided following the meeting.
There are several agenda items of special interest:
- President Dorman and Gloria Cagigas, vice president for institutional advancement, will provide current campus news.
- Presentation of the 2012-2017 Alumni Council strategic and operational plan, which will guide Council efforts to grow alumni engagement with Westminster College.
- Jonathan Smith ’02, web services coordinator, will give a tour of online Westminster resources including the Westminster website, social networks and the online alumni directory to be launched this summer.

Alumni Volunteer Opportunity - Poverty Simulation

The Poverty Simulation is an opportunity for students to participate and learn more about what it means to live in poverty. Westminster's Drinko Center and Lawrence County Community Action Partnership co-sponsor the event to give students an opportunity to role-play as individulas living below the federal poverty level. Participants will role-play by using community resources toprovice shelter, food, clothing, education and utilities for four 15-minute "weeks" during the simulation.
The goal of the simulation is for participants to leave with an understanding of the struggles that impoverished individuals face. Click here for a short Simulation Promo from last year. Two hundred and fifty students participated in last year's Poverty Simulation.
Your Role: You will be assigned a role to play in the simulation. Two sessions are held during the event. Session I: 3:30 - 5 p.m. and Session II: 5 - 6:30 pm. Each simulation is broken down into four 15-minutes "weeks" followed by a debriefing. You may participate in one or both sessions.

Area alumni and friends will gather for a Pittsburg Pirates baseball game and Skyblast 2011. The Pirates will play the San Diego Padres and Skyblast will welcome Train to the PNC Park stage while Zambelli fireworks light up the sky.
Ticket can be picked up between 5:45 - 7 p.m. from a Westminster representative near the main ticket windows on General Robinson Street (near left field gate). After 7 p.m. tickets may be picked up at the Will Call Window.
Reservations due by Friday, July 29, 2011.
