Counselor Education

The Counselor Education program at Westminster College is a comprehensive sequence of courses and field experiences that are designed to prepare students to provide professional counseling services in the school setting. Through the Master's degree program and internship, students acquire a practical knowledge of school counseling theory and develop effective counseling skills. The Master's degree program consists of 30 semester hours of coursework. Students desiring certification in Pennsylvania as a School Counselor complete a 6 semester hour internship in addition to the master's degree coursework. This 300 clock hour internship is completed in the school under the supervision of an experienced, certified school counselor. Students working toward the School Counselor license in Ohio, complete a 12 semester hour internship that consists of 600 clock hours of experience. More information about the program and curriculum may be found in the Counselor Education Advising Handbook.
