Students learn the importance of accurate, relevant, and timely information when they study Accounting at Westminster. Majors develop, interpret, and evaluate data capturing the financial activities of a business. Assessing business activities and their financial consequences make accountants ideally capable of developing business solutions. From the Principles of Accounting to Forensic Accounting to Accounting for Not-for-Profits to Auditing, the course of study rigorously prepares a base from which students can dive into any financial situation. Students are encouraged to pair their degree with a compatible minor or double major. The flexibility of Westminster’s curriculum allows students to pursue a traditional degree in accounting while joining it with other interdisciplinary interests both in and out of the department. Students have recently combined accounting with business, art, and marketing degrees. Senior year students have the opportunity to participate in a Capstone Experience where they make valuable professional contacts by working at nearby public accounting firms.
