Practical Information

NEH Summer Scholars are expected to be fully engaged in the seminar for the full duration of the Seminar. Summer scholars receive a stipend of $2,700 to assist with the costs of transportation to Poughkeepsie, N.Y., housing, food, and supplies. Two checks will be disbursed during the first and third weeks of the Seminar. NEH stipends are taxable.

In order to create a vital, collaborative community of scholars at Vassar during the duration of the three-week seminar, Vassar will offer summer scholars affordable accommodations in residential halls on campus. Laundry facilities, internet access and a shared kitchen will be available in the residence hall. These facilities do not have air conditioning. More information about housing will be available in early 2017.

Alternatively, summer scholars can stay at the Vassar College Alumnae House, which is located across the street from the college (about a 10-minute walk from the library).

Light snacks and coffee will be provided during sessions. More information about meal plans on campus will be available in early 2017.
