Milagros Z. Swerdlow

Lecturer in Spanish

Milagros Z. Swerdlow holds a Masters of Arts in Teaching Language from the University of Southern Mississippi. A native of Perú, one of her primary research interests is second langauge acquisition theory, especially as it relates to language instruction at the university level. She teaches beginning and intermediate Spanish. Milagros also coordinates Language in Motion at Westminster College, a new program that gives upper level language students and study abroad returnees the opportunity to share their knowledge of language and culture with K-12 students.

Other information:

With her husband. David Swerdlow (a professor of English at Westminster), she collects and researches Peruvian folk art. The also collaborate on "Speaking Hispanic," a cluster of her intermediate Spanish course, Spanish 202, with his Hispanic-American literature course. This cluster, which includes a service-learning component, aims to help students be immersed in the world of Spanish as it is spoken within U.S. Spanish speaking communities.
