Ann L. Murphy

Associate Professor of French and Spanish

Dr. Ann Murphy has been at Westminster College since 1995 and has been Chaiperson of the Department of Modern Languages since 2003. She teaches all levels of French language, literature, and culture, and occasionally elementary Spanish and introduction to linguistics. Her special interests include French narrative fiction of the nineteenth, twentieth and twenty-first centuries, literary theory, and film. Additionally, Dr. Murphy is interested in literary and film representations of French society during World War II and hopes to offer a cluster course on this subject. She has presented papers and published articles on Céline, Flaubert, Maupassant, and Modiano, among others. Ann received her degrees from Clark University (BA) and Brown University (M.A. and Ph.D.)

Dr. Murphy is the faculty advisor for Westminster College's chapter of the national French honorary society, Pi Delta Phi.
