Intercultural Day:

Aimed at promoting global competencies, Intercultural Day is a unique, annual program during which high school language students from surrounding communities come to Westminster College for a conference with a variety of multilingual activities inspired by an international theme. For the past two years, Westminster students, area high school teachers, and Westminster faculty have worked together to create, plan and put on this highly successful program that uses college students as the primary presenters. For 2007, our theme was the Roman occupation of Gaul. In 2008, we focused on the question, "What is a hero?" for a variety of international and intercultural perspectives. Servicing about 60 French and Latin students in 2007 and about 160 French, Latin and Spanish students in 2008, Intercultural Day at Westminster has invigorated the entire language teaching and learning community as evidenced by the comments from the following high school teacher participants:

"For many of my students, the Intercultural Day at Westminster was the highlight of their French learning experience. As a teacher, I very much appreciated the insightful instruction and the innovative activities provided by the Westminster students. It's a wonderful program." - Mary Beth Acker, Wilmington Area High School
