NEW WILMINGTON, Pa (Chelsea Haybarger)-- According to one local author, there has only been one murder in the quiet borough of New Wilmington. The 1957 killing of Judy Barber.
Barber's on one time boyfriend, Ted Fordney was labeled as the killer.
Jim Fisher, a Westminster graduate and former FBI agent, is a true crime author and blogger. His research and reporting has made him an expert on several murder cases including the one that rocked the sleepy borough in the heart of Amish country.
Fisher presented his accounts of the New Wilmington case to visitors at the Lawrence County Historical Society this fall. He talked in detail about the case of a young lady named Judy Barber. On May 28, 1957, Barber's body was found in her North Market Street home. She was dressed in a pair of blue polka-dot pajamas and white, knitted socks with an electrical cord from a vacuum cleaner wrapped tightly around her neck and knotted. Fisher says police found no signs of forced entry into the house.
