SHARON, Pa.-- Sharon police say speed was a factor in a deadly accident that claimed the lives of three people, including two Sharon High School football players, in a head-on crash along the Shenango Valley Freeeway on Nov. 8.
According to police, the SUV involved in the accident was traveling 55 to 60 miles per hour in a 40 mph zone.
Sharon PD issued a news release on Friday saying that 18-year-old Corey Swartz was driving the 2003 Mazda Tribute that crossed into the oncoming lane, hitting the pickup truck driven by 50-year-old John Zdelar.
Zdelar, Swartz, and 17-year-old Evan Gill, a passenger in the SUV, all died in the crash.
SUV passenger in the Swartz vehicle, Greg Osmon remains in Saint Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown.
Police have said there is no indication that alcohol, illegal drugs or texting were factors in the accident.
