Homemade plane crashes at Grove City Airport

Friday, July 25, 2014

SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, Pa.-- A Mercer County man ended up in the hospital after his experimental aircraft crashed at the Grove City Airport on Friday.
The F-A-A is investigating. First responders say Robert Scott Winder was flown to a Pittsburgh hospital.

They say his injuries were not life threatening.

Airport officials say Winder built the aircraft himself. He is listed as president for Chapter 161 (Grove City) of the Experimental Aircraft Association.

Witnesses say it looked as the small homemade airplane went out of it during an attempted landing.  It crashed just off the runway at around 11 a.m. That runway is near the Grove City Outlets.
