Softball: 2014 Review

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.-- Head Coach Jan Reddinger led the Titans to a 20-16 overall record and a fifth place finish in the PAC with a 9-9 mark.

Five Titans were named on the All-PAC teams, led by senior first baseman Lauren Stoczynski (Erie, PA / Harbor Creek) and senior outfielder Katy Balko (New Stanton, PA / Hempfield) who were both voted to the Second Team. Senior second baseman Kelsey Squelch (Pittsburgh, PA / Perry Traditional), freshman shortstop Shelby Brown (New Castle, PA / Mohawk), and junior pitcher Ashley Smith (Spartansburg, PA / Titusville) each received Honorable Mention.

Stoczynski, who started in all 36 games, was fourth in the PAC with a career- and team-high .411 batting average. She was also fourth in the conference with a career- and team-best .488 on base percentage. Stoczynski's career-high 44 hits stood second on the team and sixth in the league and also drew the most walks on the team with a career-high 17 (tied for third in the PAC).

Balko, who batted .293 in 2014, tied for third in the PAC with a career- and team-high 10 sacrifice bunts. Balko started in 33 games and added career-highs of 14 runs, 27 hits, and 10 RBIs.

Squelch started in all 36 games and led the Titans with 46 hits, which stood fourth in the PAC. Her team-high 11 doubles tied for seventh-best in the conference. Squelch also led Westminster with 59 total bases, standing in a tie for seventh in the PAC.

Brown was second on the team and sixth in the conference with a .384 batting average. Brown started in 35 games and stood second on the team and eighth in the PAC with a .440 on base percentage. Her 43 hits were third on the team and tied for seventh in the league.

Smith led the Titans and was seventh in the PAC with a 2.27 earned run average. Smith's career-high 11 wins led the team and stood fifth-best in the league. Her career- and team-high 126.1 innings pitched ranked fourth in the conference.
