GEORGETOWN, S.C.-- Spring break desitnations like Panama City in Florida may get all the attention from the news media, but hundreds of students spend their college breaks volunteering like a team of 24 from Westminster. One group headed to South Carolina in March. They served as the labor force for a week on the job site at a Habitat for Humanity project.
WCN staffers Jarred Treshok and Kendell Hunter joined this band of volunteers. They show you what a Spring Break with a Purpose is all about in this short video documentary.
The trip is part of a 30-year old Westminster tradition providing students with a chance to visit new places while serving as ambassadors of our local community. The goal of the Spring Break With a Purpose project is to work with Habitat groups to build and maintain homes for deserving families. Faculty, staff, students and even campus administrators have participated in the trips over the years.
