NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College women's basketball team won, 71-59, at home against Chatham in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) action on Saturday.
Westminster (12-9, 9-5 PAC) was in the lead for the entire game and led by as much as 14 points (37-23) with 15:48 on the clock in the second half.
Chatham (3-18, 2-12 PAC), down 46-35 with 11:20 remaining in the game, cut Westminster's lead to 50-47 after a 12-4 run with 7:35 to play. The Cougars got within three points again with 5:47 minutes on the clock, but were unable to close the gap.
Three Titans scored in double-figures, led by senior Gabby Holko (Pittsburgh, PA / Mt. Alvernia) who scored a game-high 19 points. Classmate Courtney Zitt (Latrobe, PA / Greater Latrobe) and junior Allison Borts (Youngstown, OH / Boardman) followed with 18 and 16 points, respectively. Borts also led Westminster on the glass with 11 rebounds for her second double-double of the season. Freshman Rachel Durbin (Lowellville, OH / Lowellville) pocketed a game-high four steals and also tied Zitt with a game-high five assists. The five assists marked a career-high for both Durbin and Zitt.
Dana Eastman led Chatham with 14 points, while teammate Jesse Hinkle tallied a game-high 16 rebounds.
For the game, Chatham shot 33.9% (21-62), while Westminster shot 33.3% (20-60). The Titans out-rebounded the Cougars 50-42.
Westminster will travel to Thomas More (21-0, 14-0 PAC) next Wednesday with a starting time of 5:30 p.m.
