PITTSBURGH (AP) - Most of western Pennsylvania was under a thin blanket of snow that fell overnight, with more forecast through the day.
Areas north and east of Pittsburgh received as up to three inches of snow before dawn, and another inch was forecast to fall by late afternoon. Erie and other northwestern Pennsylvania areas received similar amounts, but were expected to get another three to five inches throughout the day.
Though some snow was forecast for the Poconos in eastern Pennsylvania, the forecast was hit-and-miss as to whether Philadelphia and other areas would receive much at all.
Higher elevations in the western and central parts of the state were also reporting overnight accumulations.
